HOW TO APPLY

Target

The Summer Program is aimed at EU/Schengen Undergraduate (or applicants who already have a visa to travel to Switzerland for the duration of the program) and Master Degree students in Physics, Applied Physics, Medical Physics, Engineering, Computing Science and Materials Science. Students are accepted into the research groups at ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich EPFL. Each student is guided by a supervisor, responsabile for their training program. Participants in the school will spend nine weeks at ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich, EPFL. Start and end dates are flexible (from July 1 to September 30, 2024), depending on the student availability and the project needs. A final report about the project will be required during the duration of the program. In some cases, the summer internship can be extended to a few months contract in preparation of a Master Degree Thesis.

Admission

Equal opportunity admission to the Summer Program is open to students of any EU/Schengen University, on a highly competitive basis. Participants will be selected on the basis of academic achievement, average score in exams, graduation score if applicable, and suitability for the program, as indicated in a personal statement. Candidates will be informed if they are selected by the end of May.

Score requirements

Bachelor's degree students:
- Bachelor's degree average score at exams ranked in the "top 15%"
Master's degree students:
- Bachelor's degree final score ranked in the "top 10%"
- Master's degree average score at exams ranked in the "top 15%"
Master graduates:
- Master's degree final score ranked in the "top 10%"

Score requirements (Italian Universities)

"Triennale" students:
- average score at exams > 26/30
"Magistrale" students:
- "Triennale" degree final score > 100/110
- "Magistrale" average score at exams > 26/30
"Magistrale" graduates:
- "Magistrale" degree final score > 100/110

Support

The costs for the successful students are:
- health insurance (if needed) valid for the planned period of stay in Switzerland;
- travel expenses.
Funding sufficient to cover the living expenses (accommodation, food and other items) will be provided.

Application

Applications must be made at S3P3Application and must include:
- Cover Letter where the student should provide reasons why they seek to be admitted to the program,
- Curriculum Vitae,
- Application Form: Download the Application form,
- Previous Research Projects (if available),
- 2 reference letters from professors or scientists at national or international laboratories. Letters must be submitted online by the reference writers by the deadline.

Candidates will be notified of acceptance by the end of May 2024.
